There has been a salmonella outbreak linked to pig-ear dog treats, exposing both owners and pets to illness that has lead to dozens of hospitalizations across multiple states. There have been five separate recalls on pig-ears, and officials are advising owners to not even handle the treats as they would be at risk. This includes the treats already purchased. There is an ongoing investigation by the FDA and the CDC.

"The CDC added that data on where the ill consumers had bought pig ears has not identified a single supplier, distributor or common brand of pig ear treats", CBS News has reported. So it is best to avoid all brands.

You can read more about the outbreaks and warnings from the article below, as well as some refund information if you have purchased pig ears.
